Ogden is Calgary’s railway town — a southeast community that grew up around the only CPR repair shop between Winnipeg and Vancouver.
The Ogden Shops. Opened in 1913, the shops employed five thousand people at their peak. In the Second World War they stopped fixing trains and built more than 3,000 naval guns and 1,650 gun mounts.
Today’s Ogden. Tree-lined streets in Lynnwood and Millican, George Moss Park, Pop Davies Athletic Park, and the Bow River pathways at its edge — one of Calgary’s oldest communities, established in 1912.
